CARMEL, IN – Jessica Irvine, candidate for Carmel City Council, today called out the local Hamilton County chapter of Moms for Liberty for the inclusion of an Adolf Hitler quote in their recent newsletter. Irvine stressed the importance of thoughtful, considerate discourse and respect for historical atrocities.
"I am deeply disturbed and disappointed by the decision of the Hamilton County Moms for Liberty to use a quote from Adolf Hitler in their newsletter," said Irvine. "It's a careless move that demeans the values of our community and dishonors the memory of millions of lives lost during the Holocaust."
Irvine further called for an immediate retraction of the newsletter and a public apology from the group.
"It's not just about a quote. It's about the insensitivity and lack of judgment shown by a group that purports to advocate for the betterment of our children's education," Irvine continued. "Our community deserves better than to have its values associated with a figure who represents the worst forms of bigotry, hatred, and genocide."
Jessica Irvine, a long-time advocate for responsible and respectful communication in public discourse, remains committed to holding individuals and organizations accountable when they deviate from these principles. She believes that only through thoughtful and respectful conversation can we build a community that truly serves all its residents.
Irvine reaffirms her commitment to the diverse residents of Carmel, stating that she will continue to use her platform to speak out against hate, intolerance, and insensitivity. She affirms that her campaign is about building bridges and creating a more inclusive and respectful community.
"Each one of us, especially those in leadership roles, has a responsibility to foster an environment where respect, tolerance, and understanding thrive. This includes being mindful of the historical context and the implications of our words and actions," Irvine stated.
She concluded by reiterating her commitment to a positive campaign and her hopes for a community that respects diversity, upholds shared values, and refrains from divisive and insensitive tactics. "I want every resident to know that I am committed to ensuring our public discourse is respectful, empathetic, and uplifting. Your voice matters. Together, we can build a stronger and more inclusive Carmel."
